Last weekend, The Custard Factory hosted the exclusive apparel meet ‘Sneaks n Peaks’, showcasing the best of Birmingham’s authentic, urban brands and independent designers as well as limited edition kicks from the likes of Adidas, Nike and Reebok.

With Sneak and Peaks hosting an event for the first time, Scene Birmingham’s Shara Johnson took a trip down on a sunny Saturday to meet fashion at its finest.

The event displayed a unique variety of brands and artwork ranging from sportswear to swanky vintage. Among the hustle and bustle of fashion enthusiasts included iconic labels Bangers and Mash, Haunt, Dubbz Apparel and Lost Souls (just to name a few).

Amazed by the different ranges of so many fabulous clothes, one of my favourite exhibitors of the day included ‘Tees and That’, an eco-friendly brand incorporating water based inks and T-shirts made from organic cotton and recycled polyester. Their items represented high quality as well as style, making them worth every penny!

The day delivered a lively vibe with funky music and yummy nibbles reminding me of East London’s infamous Spitafields market.

Another highlight of the day was seeing a brilliant live customisation of painted footwear demonstrated by Founder of HEK style and illustrator, David Blake.

If in the past, it seemed most of the cities designers and artists have been under the radar, Sneaks and Peaks certainly provided a platform to expose hidden talent and flawless creativity.

Whether you are a lover of fashion, music or the general arts scene, there truly was something for everyone at this event. After a huge success, I hope this is the start of something major for Birmingham’s event calendar and we definitely cannot wait for the next one!
